Concrete Spalling or ‘Concrete Cancer’ as it is sometimes called, results from the reinforcing metal rusting within the concrete due to insufficient cover of the metal reinforcing steel with concrete.

This results in major structural damage, known as spalling.

Loose concrete is removed to expose the rusting steel. All traces of rust and corrosion are removed and the steel is then rust-inhibited or replaced.

BASF Barrer Mortar products (new concrete) is then applied over the treated steel sealing it off from the environment and further degradation.
